Who we are

Urumpirai Makkal Ontriyam brings together people from Urumpirai, Jaffna who live in Canada. We keep families connected to each other and to our home village.

Through gatherings, research, and shared stories, we help children growing up in Canada learn where their families come from and carry that culture forward.

Our Mission

Keep families connected to each other and to Urumpirai.

Our Vision

Help the next generation know their roots and culture.

How to join

  2. Introduce yourself and tell us how your family connects to Urumpirai and what you would like to take part in.

What we share

Our website brings together community photographs, an introduction to Urumpirai’s places and history, and information about our annual gathering. Families can contribute memories and photographs to help the next generation learn about their roots.
